THE JOHN MERRILL MINISTRY - "Embracing and honouring all faiths and none"

A few words about Revd. John N. Merrill

John is unique, possessing the skills of a marathon runner, mountain man and athlete. Since his first 1,000 mile walk through the Islands of the Hebrides in 1970, he has walked over 218,000 miles and worn out  132 pairs of boots, and more than 1,500 pairs of socks so far. In 1978 he became the first walk around the entire coastline of Britain - 7,000 miles. He has walked across Europe and Alps and Pyrenees - 3,000 miles. In America he has walked the Appalachian Trail, the Pacific Crest Trail and Continental Divide Trail and completed a 178 day, 4,260 mile walk, coast to coast. He has walked all over Britain completing six walks of between 1 and 2,000 miles long. More recently he has completed many Pilgrimages - three times of Santiago de Compostela; to St. Olav's shrine in Norway and in July 2012 to Assisi in Italy. In 2013 the Good Christian Path from France over the Pyrenees to Spain. In 2014, the Pilgrimage route to St.Gilles du Gard in southern France. 2015 - St. Cuthbert's Pilgrimage Walk and in 2016 to Mont St. Michel, and many others.

In-between times he has walked and skied in every country in Europe; walked all the trails in the Hong Kong Islands and walked in Africa, India and the Himalayas many times.

He has never broken a bone or been lost and never had an trouble anywhere. He still walks in the same body he was born with. This he puts down to his deep spiritual nature and in 2010 he was ordained as a multi-faith Minister - he is a universal monk, honouring and embracing all faiths and none. He is a popular Funeral Celebrant.

John is also an author with some 440 walk guides to his name. He has created more than 70 day and multiple day challenge walks, which people have used to raise £1 million for different charities.

For every ceremony and service I gave my utmost to make it a meaningful occasion.
These include - Funeral Service, weddings, baby blessings, rites of passage, healing ceremonies, spiritual talks, & civil services.
